Healthy Weight Loss Programs

Healthy Weight Loss Programs

There are many effective weight loss programs and there also those that are unhealthy and ineffective. There are programs that are not really unhealthy but are abused by dieters so they end up becoming unhealthy.

Often dieters who abuse weight loss programs do not have enough information about the program so they end up not following the real process set by the diet’s author.

There are also diets that are really unhealthy no matter at what perspective you view them from. An example of an unhealthy diet is the cabbage-soup diet. The diet has no scientific studies to back up its claims but people still continue to try it. The only reason the cabbage soup diet works is it lowers the calorie intake of the dieter. Aside from being unhealthy, the cabbage soup diet is also not sustainable. That is one of the common features of unhealthy diets, they are not sustainable. It is best to follow them for a few weeks and then replace them with healthier diet programs.

Sometimes, diets get their bad reputations not because they are ineffective but because dieters abuse them. Those who consume very little calories (some dieters insist on consuming less than 1000 calories) and who over exert themselves with exercise and other activities may already be suffering from eating disorders.

Those suffering from eating disorders have unrealistic body images and often sacrifice their health to achieve low weights.

Studies have shown that eating disorders are often the result of deeper emotional or psychological problems and not just from people’s desire to lose weight.

If you really want to lose more than 20 pounds and want to have a healthy body, make sure you choose a good program among the healthy weight loss programs out there. It’s not difficult to get information on weight loss programs. You can easily find the information you need from the internet.

Healthy weight programs are often personalized programs that take into consideration the person’s weight, preferences and lifestyle. These programs must also include some form of exercise to be truly effective and healthy. Exercise is a key component because the reason people become overweight is they are unable to burn the calories they take in. Another criterion that weight loss programs must pass for them to be considered healthy is- sustainability.

There are numerous weight loss programs out there that promise instant results but they are not the types of programs that you can stick to for life without becoming undernourished or without suffering from any health problems.

Water Help for Weight Loss

Water Help for Weight Loss

Water is very important for the regular functions of the body.  The right amount of water in the body helps in maintaining the correct balance between salt and water in the blood and in the tissues of the body. This allows the body’s organs to function properly.

Some people who do not hydrate themselves when exercising and weigh themselves afterwards will see that they have instantly lost weight.

This is not the kind of weight loss you want.  What you want is to lose the fat and not water and lean muscles.  When you allow your body to become dehydrated, you may lose weight but your body becomes unhealthy.

Water helps with weight loss in two ways: it promotes the thermogenic state in the body which then increases your metabolic rate and it also aids in the proper digestion of food. Proper hydration helps your internal organs to function well.  The digestive system like all the other body systems needs water to be able to work well.

The kidneys, liver, stomach and other body organs will work better if the body is properly hydrated.  With enough water in your system, your body is able to flush out toxins.  You kidneys are also able to function properly so that the liver can focus on turning the fat in your body into energy instead of helping the body filter out the toxins in your systems.

Because the liver is able to function properly, your body’s metabolism increases.

Some dieters also claim that drinking water makes you feel full so that you don’t end up eating excessive amounts of food.  What some people do is they drink a glass or two of water so that their stomachs feel full and they can only take in so much food.  Sometimes dieters suck on ice cubes to take away hunger pangs.

Water keeps muscles healthy.  Muscles are made up primarily of tissues and water. Water helps the muscles function so that well-hydrated muscles actually work better, they also become easier to tone.  Water is also very healthy to the skin because as mentioned earlier, water flushes out the dirt from the body.  With proper hydration, your body is like a well-oiled machine.  When the body becomes dehydrated because of lack of food and liquid intake, the body’s systems go on defense mode and actually slow down the metabolism to reserve the body’s energy for vital life functions.
